The Origin of The Chattahoochee Road Runners
Since the Chattahoochee River is Atlanta's major waterway and a focal point for runners on the numerous trails along its banks, the decision was natural to use good geographic identity. Hence, The Chattahoochee Road Runners (CRR) was formed on August 2, 1981 by Dick Biggs, Ron Creasy, and Ron Varner.
The Objective of The Chattahoochee Road Runners
The Chattahoochee Road Runners would love to have you as a member!
The Chattahoochee Road Runners' Club is a social club which provides a forum for runners in and around the Atlanta area to meet to run, socialize, and discuss running and the running lifestyle. The club offers many opportunities and activities to its members including monthly meetings, a weekly email newsletter, and weekly organized runs, as well as special events throughout the year. We hold the annual Chattahoochee Road Runners 5K/10K race which boasts one the fastest Peachtree qualifying courses in Atlanta. Funds raised from this race not only support the club but also provide donations to local charities and civic organizations.
We welcome all who have an interest in running and the running lifestyle regardless of pace or experience. We currently have members ranging in age from newborns (....but they don't do any speedwork....) to the mid-seventies. The skill levels of our athletes range from beginners, to advanced, to Olympic qualifiers.
